George Washington & Providence

God N America Podcasts

George Washington was described as “Bullet-Proof” by many of his contemporaries. He escaped numerous deadly situations during his military career. As a result, many came to believe he was protected by the invisible Power of Providence. One of his most famous providential stories came during the French and Indian War at the Battle of the Monongahela near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1755. He was one of the few officers to survive that battle and did so without being wounded. He later told his brother, John of the four bullet holes in his clothes and having two horses shot out from under him. He attributed his safety to Providence (one of his names for God). We read about that same Providence in scripture as well as in the lives of notable Americans. What will it take to have Providence move among us, too?
